On November 24-25, 2023, the Office of Science, Research, and Innovation Promotion (O-Brain), under the Office of the National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), organized a seminar titled "Particle Accelerators and Applications in Thailand". This event was part of the project "Study of Knowledge Development, Manpower, and Knowledge Institutions to Design Mechanisms for Achieving Success in Cutting-Edge Research to Advance the Nation in Quantum Technology, High-Energy Physics Technology, Plasma Physics, and Earth and Space Technology." The seminar, held at the Busaba Room of the Mandarin Hotel in Bangkok, was co-hosted by the Center of Excellence in Physics, the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (Public Organization), and the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization).
The seminar aimed to exchange knowledge and gather opinions on the development and application of particle accelerators in various fields both domestically and internationally. Additionally, it sought to strengthen collaboration among domestic and international agencies involved in the development and utilization of particle accelerator technology. Assistant Professor Dr. Burin Asawapihop, Head of the Knowledge Development Project, delivered the welcome address to participants. The seminar was officially opened by Professor Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong, Secretary-General of the IT Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The event provided a platform for researchers, academics, experts, students, entrepreneurs, and the public to share insights and experiences regarding particle accelerators. It aimed to promote a deeper understanding of their applications across a wide range of fields, including advanced research, industry, agriculture, medicine, material science, and analysis. Furthermore, the seminar sought to raise public awareness of the practical benefits of particle accelerator technology, emphasizing its significance in supporting research and development in Thailand. The event successfully attracted over 70 participants, fostering discussions and collaborations that highlight the importance of advancing particle accelerator technologies in the country.
